Independent Study
Description
During my time at Indiana University pursuing a BA, I completed an independent study that focused on designing 26 letterpress posters inspired by the alphabet. The idea originated when I needed a studio credit to graduate, and I decided to explore my passion for letterpress by integrating it with digital design. Guided by Professor Alexander Landerman, I used a Vanderbilt letterpress to print the Gothic 16 typeface onto paper. I then scanned and vectorized the typeface to create a series of 26 posters, each featuring a word corresponding to a letter of the alphabet. This project allowed me to experiment with composition and layouts influenced by design movements such as minimalism, brutalism, neo-futurism, and collage. It showcases my versatility as a designer and my ability to adapt to and incorporate contemporary design trends.
